NE Kansas | It depends on a lot of variables but heat moisture have the biggest impacts assuming rodents and other vermin are controlled.
Pelleted feeds- Typically store longer in the summer without getting buggy. 3 months at summer temps will degrade some vitamins and amino acids. Weevels and moths will start hitting about that time frame in the summer, sooner if there was old grain in the bin that wasn't cleaned out before feed was added.
Textured feed- Molasses molds quickly without a mold inhibitor. Probably a month max in the summer. Also textured feeds get buggy quicker than pellets. I'd store no more than a couple months worth in the summer.
Winter- you could store all winter into spring with out issue. Cold temps prevent the mold, bugs and degradation. Just have to keep rodents at bay. | |
