hlstark - 2/9/2026 12:53 A ITIN number is used. This is an individual tax Identification number The ITIN is a 9-digit tax processing number issued by the IRS for federal tax purposes only. It allows all individuals, regardless of their immigration status, to comply with U.S. tax laws. An ITIN does not: Provide legal immigration status or work authorization. Make you eligible for Social Security benefits or the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Serve as an identification card outside of the federal tax system.

What you're saying is that illegal immigrants are getting Tax ID's so they can get employment?

I highly doubt this system was created for illegals to use?

Politicians looking the other way?

Well it's illegal to not pay taxes.. and it takes YEARS.. the line is 17 years currently from Mexico.. to obtain legal citizenship.. you dont want to jeopardize eligibility by not paying taxes.

So..yal.. ITINs kind of were created for undocumented's.

No, I don't believe it was created for illegals. I think it was created for non-citizens who are given permission to enter legally to work.

If employers are using it for illegals, undocumented, or the like, I think they are doing so illegally.
