IRS does not share information with DHS.

In 2025, the IRS and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS/ICE) established agreements to share taxpayer data—including names and addresses—to aid in immigration enforcement and deportations. However, federal courts have blocked this sharing, ruling in late 2025 and early 2026 that such data transfers likely violate tax privacy laws.

Initial 2025 Layoffs: The Trump administration terminated over 7,000 probationary staff members in early 2025.
Total Staff Reductions: By July 2025, the IRS workforce had shrunk by 25%, representing around 25,000 positions lost through layoffs and buyouts.
Audit Unit Impact: The unit responsible for auditing billionaires lost roughly 38% of its staff as of March 2025.
2026 Outlook: Reports in early 2026 indicate that the agency continues to face challenges, with roughly 1,400 additional, separate layoff notices reported, alongside ongoing efforts to reassign staff for the filing season.
Overall Impact: The agency finished 2025 with approximately 74,000 employees, down from 102,000 at the start of the year.

Seems to me the IRS will be less effective.
