West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | As my wife and I have traveled down our "trying to eat healthier" in our empty nest years together, we have found that a Mediterranean leaning diet seems to "work" better for my wife than a strict Keto diet.
So, we adhere to what a person could call a "Ketoterranean" diet, which consists of eating, meat, fish/seafood, poultry/eggs, leafy greens/other "Keto friendly" veggies, berries, and nuts while staying away from bread, pasta, rice, high carb veggies like potatoes, beans, corn, and of course anything with a lot of added refined sugar.
My wife has lost quite a bit more weight and is experiencing much improved gut health than when we were both adhering to a very strict Keto diet...and I haven't gained any weight back and still "feel" good so I guess we'll stay the course and see how it goes.
Keto and Mediterranean diets both achieve the same goal of drastically reducing refined carbohydrate and sugar intake. And no matter which "diet" a person chooses staying active and moderate exercise are key ingredients as well.
