Subject: RE: Tinnitus Results

Ross County, Ohio

There is no "cure"for tinnitus. I had a horrible upper sinus and ear infection last year from late December until mid March. It took four different rounds of four different medications to get rid of it. It caused tinnitus in my left ear. I went to an ENT that wasn't good, Finally found a good one. They ran the hearing test. The doctor told me my hearing is excellent. I can hear all ranges, absolutely no hearing loss. I've spend my lifetime around loud things. Concerts, bar bands, farm machinery, Chain saws, working at an airport for 17 years and stood beside 767's running half throttle, but my hearing is great. I did always wear protection. It must have done more to protect me that I thought. I asked the doctor,"If my Hearing is great, why the tinnitus?" The reply was," I don't know. With your background, you should have hearing loss now. It's possible the infection you had cause something to go off kilter, but everything I can see in you ear looks normal."

I will tell you, my tinnitus is fairly loud this winter as it was last year. In the spring, summer and fall it was quiet. When the sun is out, it goes away almost completely. I have to cover my ear to hear it. Sometimes it's not there at all. The sun goes down and after 3 hours, there it is, low, but there. Cloudy rainy days it gets a little louder. There's something the sun light is hitting me with that helps greatly, but I can't isolate what it is. When I have sunglasses on it takes about an hour for whatever it is to do it's magic. If I go out without the glasses the ringing stops in 10 minutes. Your eye can absorb the suns energy faster than your skin. I've had blood work done a few times this year, checking for every vitamin and acids they can check for, but nothing is out of the ordinary. Whatever it is, medical tests can't find it. I've gotten so I dread cloudy days.
