It probably is. Without sitting there watching, it's hard to know if his comparison is correct because generally at that barn they run lots of odds and ends and small strings. What I'd really like to know is how much his South Poll calves are getting beat up as opposed to a string of black calves...because I've sat there and seen it. I'm not opposed to what he's doing with his cattle or grass, but sometimes we all need a devil's advocate. I'll never forget sitting there watching pretty, and I mean keeper pretty Hereford hfs sell $40 back of black ones
I sold some steers that week I used the #s from weighed 525 i believe and brought $4.55 i think, that draft was hd i think 5 reds 3 blks but yes the blks were SP sired. They always seem to run in the middle of the pack or above avg for the sale even smaller drafts im always pretty happy with them. Now the SP sired calves on a hereford can get beat a little depending how much white they have on them but it seems like its a toss up whether they're just redneck baldies or have any hereford marks. Oh well, the hereford will get bred out of them anyway |
