N MO | Man I hope spring comes early!
A few times cow weight comes into the discussion. Weight of first calf heifers, steer weights, etc.
I am in Missouri, grass and feed are plentiful. Fall calving cows that are AI’ed/recips and calve in a 45 day period.
We track calf weights and cow weights at weaning time which historically has been when the first calf is roughly 160 days old.
We raise our own replacements and our own bull power. These cows are on fescue 365 days a year and supplemented with corn silage, DDG’s, and CRP/waterway hay.
Realistically what do you think these girls weigh?
Are they bigger or smaller than an average?
I realize these ladies would probably cull out quickly in an environment like Russ’s but they work for me at the moment.
