If you have kids helping raise them, here is big fact of life.
If your kids name any of these they wont go in the freezer. They become pets and kids will NOT eat a pet. PERIOD. Its hard to keep them from doing so
Better start early to reinforce that rule.
Calves are same way.
Every kid is different. Ours have named almost every calf we have kept for beef and never had a problem with them eating it. Even the bottle calf that was born on Thanksgiving day that was named turkey that they raised. They joked that was the best tasting turkey that they had ever ate.
