Bought a herd of bred cows a couple weeks back. Three calves so far. 2 out of 3 have scoured. Doesn’t seem too serious and seems like they’ll come out of it with just a bolus.

Too late to vaccinate these cows for scours I believe. I’d like to avoid it going through all of them. Is there some sort of probiotic that I could prevent it with? I hate giving them all antibiotics right off. Seems like that invites more problems later.

I’d run all the cows through the chute and scour shot them all. Some is better than nothing. The whole herd probably won’t calve 1 day after you give them the shot. The ones calving the last /tail end of calving will give some immunity to their calves that will be exposed to the greatest scour pathogen load that all the previous moms are dumping their calves into.

Eventually, it will get wet and muddy and sloppy and cold and miserable and then you’ll really be “in the thick of scours”…
