Just for conversation I believe I could dry lot that same cow for around $1 in feed costs.
How do you figure? I wouldn't trade for that as you'll have fuel and equipment cost hauling feed in, bedding cost then the cost of getting manure out and spreading it. I cant say I'd trade the labor for that, I complain having to bed and feed weaned calves in the lots for the 60 days I wean them before selling always glad to see them gone. |
