Pittsburg, Kansas | The Mediterranean diet would definitely be an upgrade from the standard American diet which for a lot of people consists of a lot of processed food stuff.
Another argument is that the fiber creates some abrasive inflammation and the short chain fatty acids produced by the fiber and gut bugs are the natural response to fix the damage. In other words a natural reaction to the inflammation created.
Is it? I sure don't know.
It is kind of like the argument the plant based community gives about meat based not getting enough vitamin C. The counter argument is not nearly as much vitamin C is needed because the anti-oxidant to offset damage from ROS is not needed. Again, the antidote to the fructose in the fruit is the higher level of vitamin C.
But I don't really claim to know. I just know the more my wife and I lean towards a mostly meat based diet, the better we feel and do. For 7 years now.
Other people I'm sure have other experiences. And that is good for them. It is whatever works for a person.
