An intact bull will have virtually zero effect on meat taste. The same cannot be said of a boar. In fact our old butcher described bull hamburger as a sweeter flavor and my experience has been exactly that.



If that is true (for all I know it is) why would a packer discount a young intact bull vs a steer?

Taking it even further, why even cut bulls at all vs feeding them separately from heifers?    Or will they fight pen mates even if the pen never gets mixed to disturb the pecking order?
