Super steel panels ( 3'x 20' ) go up fast and are plenty durable. Put oak RR ties or utility poles 10 feet apart and lag bolt (with fender washers) to the posts. We've also used edged slabs from sawmills, they work but more work and maintenance. Spacing vertical boards helps with drifting snow.
