Eastern NE KS | My chute and scales were purchased in 2017-18 and before prices jumped up a bunch. The scale system was called HD and rated at 10k pounds. Back then, the bars and head added $2500usd to the chute.
Working by myself, I typically walk an animal to the head catch after it has loaded onto the chute. The head catch is no self actuating. Last falls cow processing 84 of 88 walked into the chute with no one behind them but they watched the cow ahead leave. I was lucky and grateful for their cooperation. Once head caught and next extended I:
Poured delice.
Removed fly tag.
Boostered pg vaccine.
Drenched with white wormer.
I'm sure the head catch gives the cow leverage on the scale bars that a platform for scale bars do not.
