NW Wisconsin
From what I have seen. Almost regardless of fertility broadcasting K in the fall at a decent rate 250-300 lbs gives you the best roi HERE at least. I have no idea why it puzzles me too. Still trying to figure that out. Soil here can be 3-11 CEC which by most standards is "sand". I tried various ways with banding on soys for 4 years. If you put enough on to actually make a difference you would salt out the beans. Now I go with a low rate of aspire and other micros and have increased yield and broadcast the bulk of the K the fall before. Now I would use variable rate to pick up low spots that may be harming corn yield and increase consistency of yield. Rainfall can play such games on beans its unreal but overall higher K levels increase consistency of yield. Here 15 ppm and 80-90 ppm K can grow you 180-200 bushel corn but often grows 40-50 bushel beans. Make that pencil. Get the average up to around 120ppm k and the consistency of yield really starts to favor 50-55 bushel year over year regardless of rain.

Heck still trying to figure stuff out lol. With soybeans just when you think you have it figured out something else comes along.
