Pittsburg, Kansas | Vinegar. Popular now is apple cider vinegar. A short chain fatty acid.
The gut utilizes it for nutrition to help maintain gut tight junctions that let nutrients get into the bloodstream but keep things out that aren't supposed to be there such as pathogens.
Works I would presume much like digestible fiber in that their digestion in the lower intestine creates short chain fatty acids that benefits the lining (not to mention produces gas). The apple cider vinegar is already a short chain fatty acid.
Don't drink it straight though. The concentrated acid could burn the esophagus. I've been known to drink a little sour or dill pickle juice also.
I put about a tablespoon in half cup water. But I'm definitely not a doctor or nutritionist so pay no attention to my rambling. (Although I'm sure I've been told before I was certifiable). :-)
