southern Illinois | I use Ritchie tags and love them. The Ritchie buttons are junk. We calve in spring so first number is year of birth, ie 6??= 2026. If it's fall calving the second number starts with a 5. Fall born 2026 = 65?. This works as long as you keep fewer than 50 heifers at a time. I also think color plays a role on Ritchie tags . Dark blue and yellow seem to last along time as far as readability. Put some purple in a few years ago and the purple started wearing off really bad. Allflex and Y-tex buttons . | |
