Subject: RE: Dry fertilizer on beans

North Carolina
I have never banded fertilizer beside beans but one time, Good many years ago was planting cotton, had fertilizer on planter. We had about 18 ac of beans to plant close to cotton field. So, we changed plates and planted them running same fertilizer blend we was running on cotton. I was not happy about planting in 38" rows, but we did. When beans matured, I pulled plants you could visually see what side of row fertilizer was placed. Root mass was about double on that side. Yields were about the same as my 20" beans. that had broad cast fertilizer. So, the way I saw it the wide rows made the same as narrow, so fertilizer, beside row had to help. ( I guess what I'm trying to say is I, don't think anybody is crazy for trying anything that works for them in their soil and climate. It may work different for the next guy according to what his conditions and yield expiations are.)
