The only waste of time was what I spent reading Moose response.

You're telling me that you could put a Coulter between them to 7 and 1/2 in rows and knife fertilizer down at 4 in if not a little more?
Absolutely 100%, that would be a dream machine. If I had that here on my low organic matter low CEC soils that would be my soybean planting machine all day everyday and then I would plant for my neighbor for free just because I would enjoy it. What a wonderful setup that is.

Man putting that band of nutrients down at 4" or a little more if possible. So it's always in good moisture. It's right close to the roots but not too close. Come late season when that plant is looking for nutrients And it stumbles into that band. Oh man. We know we can't guarantee that just because We tossed fertilizer out there it's going to make a great yield but what an " I did the best I could have moments".
Adjust the rate control for field by field management.
