Sioux County, NWIA | Bale density is a case of diminishing returns. Bale weight gain drops off as density pressure increases but baler wear continues to increase with pressure.
I run 2.25 turns on hay and 3.25 on crop residues. The extra 1/4 turn prevents a break on the dotted line situation where the wrap begins and ends.
Uniform fill across the chamber is critical to achieve the maximum bale density without needing excessive wrap to prevent blow outs. | |
