Subject: Later thoughts

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I just discussed the process I mentioned above about transferring information between displays with my Ag Leader dealer. He refreshed my memory and mentioned that this could be done in a variety of ways.

The method I tried in the past and will try again is to use the setup files concept within the Master display and use a USB stick to transfer. With this approach I will create my new Farm/Field arrangement and hand type it into my Master InCommand. I will not delete my previous Farm/Field names since the display has plenty of capacity.

One I get the new Farm/Field names typed in the Master, I can create a startup file on a USB stick. This file should contain all my new names which I can transfer to the other two InCommands.

This will also be a good time to do some "housekeeping" with our AB lines. We have several that are the Property lines on the edges of our fields. Others are just an AB base line that is actually used. Some are quite old and confusing.

By having an AB line that is the property line or field edge, we can use that as a base from year to year. We just bring up the appropriate AB property line for the edge we are working with and shift over half our implement width for the initial and subsequent passes.

A neighbor uses Ag Leader also so we share the common AB property line. He shifts half his implement width his way. We shift half our implement width our way. The result is that our rows are nice and parallel with each other.

We could and probably should import the useful AB guidance lines from the field that they are currently associated with to the same field with the new name. We could but I guess wouldn't really have to delete the old Farm/Field and associated AB lines.

I think I best make a word processor document that list the Farm/Field names before I start typing them in.
