Subject: RE: Naming fields architecture for future SMS use

West Central MN
Did the name thing and that also got messy over time. Sat down one winter day and came up with a two letter plus four number code system. The first two A-Z letters reference the old name, the four numbers at the end is the field size to tenths of an acre.

JW155.3
GW104.5
GE132.7
SQ141.6
NQ135.3

Sat down with the co-op that following spring and updated all the field names in their system as well to standardize the lingo. Autosteer guidance lines are also created using the same code in the track name, in a consistent format, so in a year or five from now, one knows exactly to which field that guidance line belongs.
