Yes if the names are not exactly the same they will make a new field in SMS. We came from the YM2000 and PF3000 era when dad abbreviated a lot of the names because typing them out was a pain. I would import into SMS a set of files from the monitor that has the most correct names. Fix any of the names and then export a monitor setup file for each monitor.

I'm guessing you have a couple different "fields" that are actually the same field in SMS already. You can merge that field with the correct 1 by right clicking on the field name that is wrong and finding the "merge field" selection in the menu. Then you will have to select which field you want it to merge with. I'm not sure but I think that if you import a field that you've merged with another that SMS will dump it into the new 1.

SMS will have that naming hierarchy as well. I've never exported a setup file to a PF3000 but I'm assuming that if you export 1 from SMS for a PF3000 that the names will show up correctly.
