My mother insisted on a double oven, smooth glass cook top range when they built a new house in 1974.   90% of the time she just used the top oven.   Maybe at Thanksgiving or Christmas did she use both ovens.   The only thing nice about the top oven was it was easier to see what was cooking since it was at eye level.
