| Agree mostly with LB, especially starting out. Smart iron purchases that return quickly are fine. Buying a new 75g feed wagon cause your neighbor with an inherited ranch has one isn’t.
Grass used to be cheap here, not the case anymore, bumping on ration cost. Myself - short term cows that have a specified time for sale go to grazing. Calves/yearlins feed like you’re going to make em 800-875 and be ready to pull the trigger before, if the market is paying for a lighter one.
I hate starting a tractor to feed one but it’s business at the end of the day, do what turns the most profit in your situation. I’m not quite 40 but attitudes change. More I make the more I can screw off doing the things that don’t pay!! Haha | |
