^ Agree Davy. I am not one for Government Intervention but you might be on to something. Set aside with a grazing clause would accomplish two things at once.
1) Take land out of production to lower supply which should raise prices.We simply over produce with yield gains while SA production is climbing due to yield gains(that we taught how to) and 1000's of acres of more land brought into production annually. Therefore being a supply force in the World Market now. We are simply strapped as far as more acres  go.
2) Some type of clause for the grazing of those acres with a way to bring the "cow/calf" guy back will eventually ease the Presidents comment of "Too high of beef prices". Not a "right now" fix but last Fridays report showed still a 3% decline in the cowherd year to year. Takes a lot of money to start a herd now plus it looks more appealing to drive an auto steer tractor versus pulling a calf or helping one nurse in all kinds of not so nice environments to this younger generation.
