deep SW On.
Most every town had a rail line with a small grain elevator adjoining it . Hogs/cattle were shipped to packing plants by rail.

I think all this "just in time" delivery service killed them . Maybe around 2000 elevators quit shipping here by RR . Like machinery dealerships , 90% of little elevators have closed
