South Central MN | Almost any unsealed container that has some type of liquid in it is subject to mold and/or bacteria. Example: refilling soap dispensers (unless completely washed and dried thoroughly) that sit on your bathroom/kitchen counter CAN introduce mold/bacteria. Take this all with a grain of salt, though. I would certainly think doing the proper cleaning will keep the mold away. Now that I think about it, I've had my grind and brew coffee maker for about ten years and don't ever let it dry out. I only wash the parts once a week and don't run vinegar through it since the water we use is reverse osmosis. I haven't seen any mold and haven't gotten sick, but maybe I'll clean it and let it sit empty while we're gone for a long weekend. | |
