East of Broken Bow | I have fed the same cutting from the same field baled at the same time, and seen similar. I see it most when I put the bale in the feeder flat side down. What I think happens is that the cows learn the outside edge of the bale is weathered, and so the first bale that gets that layer broken though is what all the cows want. If I put the bale in round side down, they eat the bale from the sides first, and only eat the outer edge when they have to.
