This was from a few months back. The international fire union was discussing this same thing before congress. Should give you some more insight. Everyone above is correct. Most of the manufacturers have been sold off and bought up buy very few companies. Add regulations and, as the manufacturers try to say, supply chain issues with increased prices for parts, the prices take off.
