I’ve had enough “bad” coffee in my trucking days that I’m not really qualified to commit on the subject. Coffee from a service plaza on the NY Thruway that has been setting on the hot plate for 4 or 5 hours will kill your taste buds to the point that it really doesn’t matter what it tastes like. When using a coffee maker or percolator I have been accused of making “cowboy coffee.” For the last couple of years I have been using a Kerug with the Walmart Great Value cups. It serves the purpose. I tried one of those grind the beans and make one cup things at a Raceway in Batesville once. Once was enough. That stuff was so bad even I won’t drink it. When my wife was going through rehab after knee replacement I tried this Zoe coffee a few times while waiting for her. $2.50 for a small cup of black coffee was a bit much. I started going to McDonald’s for better coffee at less than half the price. I will say that when brewing if you dump some salt on the grounds before brewing it will mitigate the bitter taste.
