Definitely a heater with a fan on it of some sort, heat comes up from underneath. Need an adjustable vent to keep it from geting too wet inside and help regulate temp a little bit. On the poly domes they are not insulated, but not quite as big as a tote, but I used ours on the 2nd of January, was not bitterly cold, but cold, had to turn heater up a bit, and closed down the vents abit from what I usually do in April.
