Tag, spray their navel with iodine, and band the bulls.
As far as percentage of weaned calves to cows exposed, we are around 87% the last few years. Have had years +/- 5% of that. We have been increasing herd size through retaining heifers, so it seems like the open rate of the 1st and 2nd calf heifers brings the total average down a little.
