NEMO
Refer to Baby Robin above...he has a real good grasp on it. I'd much rather have cattle that need help moved along as opposed to ones that when they see you, they throw their heads up and disappear. Just to add to the discussion above since Robin added more. I've never seen the calmest cow on the place flip a switch and go nuts, maybe you have, I haven't. In my senior years, I still tag the calves at birth and I'm the guy in the alleyways and tub moving stuff to the chute. I see several breeds, and Angus are generally the worst, by a large margin. There is a reason the Angus people score and report lots of cattle, it was a problem. I'm good friends with a guy here in MO that worked for Igenity and is a cowman himself. We've had several discussions about this and his answer is consistent. Using the Simmy numbers he would say that a 15 on up into the 20's would be calmer cattle, a 7 or 8 and lower would have a lot higher population of bad actors. Everything between a 8 and 15, observe them and the progeny and make your own call. Years of looking and handling on my part confirm his observations. We all hope you have the best of luck, nobody is trying to get under your skin. But, we all look at breeding stock criteria differently....and you admitted you didn't even look at the DOC
