I see Jim's concern, but you phrased it backwards. Throw an Angus on Jim's cows and the DOC rating would generally go down...maybe way down. That said, for your comfort, I looked up the sire Hickok, he's top 2% DOC in the Angus data base. As to environment and handling playing a huge role...it does, but, some bad DOC cattle will never settle down, seen it a lot in large groups of Angus cattle, and no, they can't be made just fine


My real world experience would say different.

Angus are the least docile cattle amongst the 3 breeds: Hereford, Simmental, and then Angus.



Need a few Angus cows mixed with the Hereford's to help move them along! I think many breeders with both breeds would agree.
