I’m no chemist or physicist- but if they get there- and I think they eventually will won’t that be the beginning of just taking the building blocks of matter and creating whatever element you want? Obviously the most rare and valuable will be attempted first, but eventually they could just x number of protons, neutrons, electrons and create the desired end product. Don’t know, but it seems possible.
If they can ever get a large scale fusion reactor figured out, then, yes, it would be possible. Fusion reactors, in theory, should have enough energy to do that.
Fusion reactors have been about twenty years away for most of my life. I expect that to continue for the rest of my life.
In other words, I don't think they'll ever figure out large scale fusion reactors. Which means they'll never have the ability to do what you suggest. |
