If you start getting docked for too large of a ribeye area do the packers really want larger cows? Seems like the carcass size is about maxed out before discounts and the extra fat gets blended with lean cattle. I don’t see how we can really add that many more pounds unless frame size starts going up.


Is anyone docking for ribeyes being too big? Packers should really like the extra yield they get for the fixed costs for each head they chop off. They have adapted to the higher carcass weights and like the better carcass grades that come with them. When they start complaining because the ribeye is too big for the box, they will be done with American cattle and the imports will be taking over.
