North Central OH | Not much normally, if I can catch it within a day or two and mama doesn't try to kill me I prefer to tag. Give colostrum bolus if possible, probiotic vitamin basically seem to help get them going and help with minor scours. If the calf doesn't get warmed up fast enough or caught in the rain type situation will give a cc of draxxin. Normally have 99% make it to weaning, have had a few still births over the years and a few that we couldn't get to suck. After the first day they are normally good, did loose one after a week last week. Cold weather problems and probably didn't get it warmed up fast enough to begin with. | |
