scmn		It is the reality of low volume purchasing. By those washers 100,000 at a time and you will get them down to 3 cents each.

IMHO the greedy one is the guy expecting to pay mfg cost on parts that are made by the millions when buying under a handfull at a time. You went tp a hardware store for the convience of buying just the number you need. At the same time you could have rung up the mfg and bought 1,000,000 washers took 10 out and sold the rest but it obviously was not worth your time to do that. You pay extra for the convenience of getting how many you want.

Gas stations sell 12oz Coke for 2.00 and people buy them all.the time even though the 12pk of Coke sits on the shelf next to it for 6.00. It's not greed, it is market pricing based on volume. It takes a lot more sales time to sell individual vs case just like more for case vs pallet, pallet vs truck load, truck load vs boat load.

If you sold all you grain one kernel at a time for bulk price you would go broke paying the labor bill.
