NE Nebraska | Done several things over the past 10-15 years. All rye or some spring planted oats. Planting rye earlier in fall provides more spring growth. You can use a lower seeding rate earlier and have equal or more growth than a late planted high rate. I shoot for 40# planted mid October on beanstubble on 15” rows. We strip till in the spring and spray off after planting most seasons. I have broadcast 100# on cornstalks going to beans with good luck. It didn’t work for me to spread on bean stubble even right after combining.
