Correct. I’ve posted some of the info before - but I think Iran and Venezuela account for about 30% of Chinas crude needs. Keep in mind this is sanctioned oil, so they were buying it at significantly lower cost than what the current market is. China isn’t going to go to war to protect it, but they’ll gladly send supplies. The interesting thing is what will Russia do? Historically they back Iran, but they also (as Chinas major oil supplier) stand to gain A LOT if Iran falls. There’s been some theories that Russia helped the USA with Venezuela - notice the Venezuela VP was in Russia at the time. Also Russia has some reason to be suspicious of China due to some recent events..

Also of note Xi has booted the top general in the PLA (last week) - he was also one of the main people advocating NOT using force against Taiwan as he fears it would set China back multiple years economically. Lots of moving parts right now - yes it is scary, BUT IF they act and succeed and Iran becomes a non terrorist state it totally changes the dynamics of world policy. If Iran falls, Russia has a major reason to end Ukraine as sanctions on their oil could be dropped, which would dramatically increase its value. Probably the biggest fear right now is if it happens it’s solely a U.S./isreal deal- nobody else is on board.
