I agree it’s overly complicated. Do a minimum day charge or leaving home emergency charge. Make sure you get your list of work the night before or that morning and knock it out.
Also remember your experience(ability to do a job faster and more efficiently) should factor in.
We pay our handyman hourly from the time he leaves his house. Very seldom do we have emergency calls. We also make sure his day is worth it. Not 3 hours here nor there.
