It was only a handful of millions back when my parents and then my wife and I revocable trusts were set up.
Wouldn't it suck if a political power comes about that wants to go back there?
Same way with income taxes. At one point in US history the combination of federal plus state plus county and local sales taxes a person in the highest bracket could end up paying almost 90% of the last dollar earned in taxes.
That would also suck to go back there. It sure was an incentive for top earners to either do less or figure out away around or cheat. Not conductive to a productive society. | |
