McLeod County MN | I had an Uncle gift most of his land to sons a few years back and yes they inherited his basis on land he inherited from his father. Said he didn't care that they didn't get stepped up basis. He figured it would really make them think hard about selling it and if they wanted to pay that much in taxes it wouldn't be very smart.
Seems to be more transitions taking place with a warm hand vs a cold hand.
