West Central MN
Didn't experience it directly as the name on the dotted line, however did experience it as the teenager whose parents were living through that period. The bank made a lot of interest money over decades off my parents along with them being beholden to the government for the various programs. Neither one of those entities wants a strong financially independent farmer they cannot control or siphon money.

The amount of friends and neighbors that are stuck in the eternal operating loan trap is disheartening and the system is designed to keep them there. Want an operating loan? You need to have crop insurance. The trap is set by design.
