2 cotter keys. 1.25 inches long x 1/8 inch in a plastic bag. $1.19 + tax .08 = 1.27/2 = .64 each. Nuts !!
Little flat washers 3/32 hole by 5/16 inch dia. = 35 cents EACH. 10 of those is $3.50 Wow. Just plain flat washers.
I am suprised they did not charge me 50 cents for the paper bag I bought the flat washers in.
Easy solution for this.
Go to Fastenal, McMaster Carr or wherever you buy hardware and buy bulk quantities (100 or more) of everything you will ever need in the next 5 years and sit them on a shelf and use as needed. Have a few hundred dollars tied up to have what you need at bargain prices.
I actually have a ton of this stuff because I hate not having what I need when I want it and I also cannot afford to run to town every time I need something on a customer vehicle.
Everybody deserves to make a living and the store has money tied up in inventory.
