We use a lot of power units in this area for irrigation, the John Deere and Deutz units can be rebuilt. I have power units purchased in 2005 that are worth more at a sale than what they were purchased for. Also have some older JD 8310, 8320 models that don’t go down in value very much. This type older equipment retains value just about like my real gains in real estate (after factoring in inflation on all assets). I own more value in real estate than equipment but pre def equipment that has been maintained is not like buying new equipment and watching it decrease in value 50% over 3 years.

I have some new equipment that was purchased because of efficiency gains over older less modern equipment. Grain carts, power units, tillage tractors are remarkably similar to what was manufactured 20 years ago…
