I'm looking for opinions and first hand experience with tankless water heaters. Electric or propane? Do they work like they say? Are they reliable and what do they require for maintenance? I really don't know much about them. It seems it would be better than having to have a water heater keeping water hot all the time in a low use environment. I'm thinking of putting up a building that would have a half bath and kitchen area for doing meat processing, canning and just kind of a man cave.

Probably would add a bit of cost, but I would install both in that instance, the tankless would get a workout when canning and processing, but you don't need a big heater for man cave activities. Shut the big heater off unless needed, shut the tankless off when using the big heater.
