| One aspect that I had not known until just a few years ago was that the crew survived the initial explosion. The article I read claimed that they likely became unconscious from the g forces from spinning and tumbling during the fall back to earth so they would not have been aware at the moment of impact.
I had assumed they died instantly in the explosion. I’m glad I didn’t know that at the time or the tragedy would have been even more emotional.
