West Central IA | Before I purchased a Bale processor I rented one from the local Vermeer dealer. It had 2 hydraulic rotors to spin the bale. I had issues with some tough hay that it would hang up on the rotors. Had to run them forward and backward and then it didn't feed and process the best. I always had in my mind what would happen if a bale got "stuck" and wouldn't back up?.. I bought a Haybuster 2650 with the feed chain. It is awesome. I set the rack depending on what I am processing for best feeding. I prefere no net on my bales when processing so I can cut the net and just pull it over the side and then advance the chain bed so the net will all come off. I only do this with stalks. Hay bales I can remove either when the bale is on my loader or cut it off after the bale is on the machine bale lift. It takes extra tine to remove the net, but I don't want my cows eating something that could plug their guts. Also the machine does a much better job processing if the rotor is not full of net wrap. | |
